Battery Usage

This feature is already present in Android operating system and finally Apple decided to put this in iOS 8. Battery usage feature shows the exact usage of the battery power in your device. You can see which apps and games have biggest impact on the battery life and then you can find an alternative for those apps, in order to see the battery usage on your device, go to settings >> general >> usage >> battery usage.

Auto Suggestions

The new keyboard in iOS 8 comes with auto suggestion feature that is quite useful for some people but some people don’t want auto suggestions to complete the words while typing. Fortunately you can turn off this feature easily; tap and hold the auto suggestion bar and drag it down to keyboard in order to hide it.

There are many better web browser like Google Chrome are available for your iOS device but if you want to go with the native browser Safari then you might know some tips about it. You can swipe left and right from the edge of the screen to go forward and backward through your history.

The new version of Safari suggests recommended search results that is quite annoying; to turn off this feature, go to settings >> Safari >> and turn off Search Engine Suggestions.

By default Safari uses Google as a search engine but you can change this configuration. Go to settings >> Safari >> search engine >> and from there select the search engine you want to use by default.

Safari preloads pages and websites you frequently visit; this feature makes your whole browsing experience faster than normal by preloading the pages and websites but if you use internet via mobile data then you probably don’t want to burn your allowance on websites and pages you don’t want to visit. In order to turn off this feature, go to settings >> Safari >> and disable preload top hit option.

Find my iPhone

Find my iPhone is a very popular feature in iOS devices and thousands of people have found their lost or stolen devices using this feature. iOS 8 comes with an additional feature that automatically sends the location of the device before the battery runs out. You can enable this feature from settings >> iCloud >> Find my iPhone.

I’ve been using Safari for some time now and I had no idea about any of these things….I didn’t know that you can swipe left and right from the edge of the screen to go through your history, or that you can turn off the recommended search results.

To be honest, I was thinking about changing my browser since I was really not satisfied with Safari, but now it doesn’t seem that bad after all :) Thanks for the tips guys!
