Facebook Hello: A New Kind Of Dialer For Android

By on April 28, 2015

Do you know one billion phone calls are made every day in USA alone? Now you do have a pretty good idea how much calls people make monthly but on the other hand dialing is not a fun because phones, even smartphones don’t recognize numbers some time, it is still quite difficult to manage contacts because you can save them on the SIM card, phone itself and Google account on Android devices that some time lead to duplication.

Wi-Fi call is a relatively new feature but most of the smartphones don’t have the proper software to take benefit of this feature. So Facebook decided to fill this gap with the help of their app and service named Hello. Obviously Facebook has motives to become the centralized app and service for all of your communication yet it offers advanced features like Wi-Fi calling as well as promise of modernize your devices.

Currently Hello is available for Android devices only and you can download it for free from Google Play Store. Hello replaces the native Android dialer and uses VoIP via Wi-Fi in order to make free phone calls. According to the company, there are three key features in Hello app for Android; first of all, this app automatically recognizes the phone number and shows caller IDs even if you don’t have those numbers stored on your device. It uses Facebook to identify those numbers and caller. Secondly, the same feature allows users to block unwanted phone calls pretty easily because you don’t have to know the name of caller in order to block it.

Hello is packed with a powerful search feature that allows users to find the local businesses and their contact information without any hassle. As mentioned above, Hello promotes VoIP calling that uses Facebook Messenger for this purpose. VoIP is already a part of Facebook Messenger but using this function via a phone dialer is a whole different and better experience that makes it easier for users to make phone calls for free. You can respond to the missed calls via Facebook Messenger too that is a pretty awesome feature.

Although Hello has an advantage over most of the other dialer apps and services available today yet there are so many apps that are way more productive and popular than Facebook Hello. Obviously Hello will face tough competition in upcoming week from other dialer apps like Google Hangouts Dialer that has 5 million downloads, Viber which has 100 million downloads and Skype which has 500 million downloads.

I agree with you Bern. I am using so many different applications that are free and available on play store and are performing so great. Hello is just an update it is not a whole new application. So, that’s why it didn’t catch my eye

Why using this or any other additional application instead of using the already known ones. At least we are sure that they are good

It happened to me the same some time ago. Try to remove the application completely from your device and then try to reinstall it again. Anyway it all depends on the kind of Android device you posses..

There has always been competition, but Hello seems like a good dialer app, worth giving it a try.

Another great app in the bunch. I downloaded it a few days ago and uninstalled Viber shortly after. This app is so much simpler and very professionally designed. It has all the tools one can need.

Once they launched the app, they knew that there will be competition :) Each one of them is unique in a way..
