Customize Your Phone with Yahoo Aviate

By on September 9, 2014

Yahoo is well known for its search engine and weather service. Before the invasion of Gmail in email market, Yahoo Mail was widely used all over the globe. Currently, millions of people use Yahoo Mail service on daily basis and it is biggest rival of Gmail and Microsoft Account (Outlook, Live and Hotmail). Few months ago, Yahoo launched a launcher for Android devices. This launcher named “Aviate” has the sole purpose of personalizing and simplifying the home screen of Android devices based on users’ preferences.

As we already know, Android ecosystem offers freedom to its users, it offers personalization but it is quite complicated as compare to other mobile operating systems like iOS and Windows Phone. Aviate not only simplifies Android devices but also make personalization process fully automated. Though, customization and ability to personalize Android phone experience are key elements behind the success of this operating system.

These things make it harder for some users to use Android like other mobile operating systems. Many big companies and names are now developing their own launchers; for example Google has Google Now too. You can make Yahoo Aviate fully automated if you want. For example, you can set wallpaper, theme and set icons for a particular location such as your home. And you can set a totally different set of these things for a different location such as your office. So, whenever you will go to your office, Yahoo Aviate will change your phone settings to office settings automatically.

You will get communication apps and productivity apps on your home screen which you usually use in your office. And when you will arrive home, your phone will automatically change settings to “home settings” and you’ll see games and other apps you use in your home. Yahoo Aviate determines your location via GPS feature, so you much turn GPS on all the time. Not only apps and themes but you can also set other settings too.

For example, your phone will turn on Wifi when you are at home and you can also set different widgets for different locations. Location is just one aspect, there are others too; For example, you can set different settings for different time of day. This setting is optimal for people who work in an office during regular working hours. But for people who work in different locations and time, it is quite hard to configure. For thing purpose, you can set these settings manually.

Whatever it is, Yahoo Aviate is a great app for people who don’t want to spend huge amount of time on their devices customizing them. Yahoo Aviate is available for Android deices including phones and tablets but currently it supports few devices. You can check whether your device is compatible with Yahoo Aviate or not from their official website.

other launchers like GoLauncher and Nova are way better than this one. Aviate consume too much system resources especially battery power.
