How to Block Popups on Your Phone?

By on July 3, 2014

Popups are not only unnecessary and unethical but sometimes even dangerous for your computer. There are a few types of the popups; some are from the Windows itself, some are from the 3rd party software and some are from websites you are visiting. The popups Windows or any other operating system generates are useful and informative for the users as they help in certain occasions. You can also turn them off easily from the settings or preferences. The popups generated by the 3rd party software some in a grey area as sometimes they are helpful and sometimes they are spam. It depends upon the software vendors.

Good software vendors do not create spam popups for advertisement, in case certain software is showing annoying ads again and again, then you should uninstall the software and go for an alternative as most of the software has alternative.

The websites popups are a totally different story. In some people opinions, they must be illegal. But for now, an end user could not do anything in this regard accept block the popups. Most of the desktop browsers have built in popup blocker for example the Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Opera. They are usually 80% effective in most of the situations and if you are not satisfied with their performance then you can download and install the 3rd party extension from the browser’s own store. The point is that, the desktop users have the option to block the popups very easily yet they smart phone users have not.

The built in popup blocker in the Android browsers such as Chrome and Opera does not work in most of the cases and the worst part is that the Chrome extensions do not support the Android version, though the extensions store of the browsers like Chrome and Dolphin Browser has many extensions like Download Manager and Theme Changer but no popup blockers.

There are some browsers too with popup blockers like Jerky but no one wants to download a browser just for the popup blockers especially if other features are not much impressive. Recently I discovered that the Android version of the Mozilla Firefox browser not only has the extension store but also the popup blocker. I tried it for many days and it is 99% effective in the popup blockage. If you want to get rid of the annoying popups on your Android phone then the Mozilla Firefox is the best option.

Me too, the only good thing about firefox is this extension, otherwise chrome is much better browser than this.
